Priener Hütte, Mountain hut in Aschau im Chiemgau, Germany
Priener Hütte is a mountain shelter situated at 1410 meters on the western slopes of Geigelstein and can accommodate around 70 guests in rooms and dormitory spaces. The building offers dining facilities, sleeping areas, and basic amenities for hikers and mountaineers.
Construction of Priener Hütte began in 1925 after funding was secured and the facility was later expanded during the 1960s and 1970s. These modernizations allowed it to handle growing visitor numbers and improve its infrastructure.
The mountain refuge functions as a significant stop along multiple long-distance hiking trails, including the Chiemgau Tour, Adlerweg, and Via Alpina routes.
The hut staff welcomes guests daily during summer months, while opening hours vary during colder seasons. It is wise to check current conditions and access routes before visiting, especially during the shoulder season.
The hut operates a photovoltaic system for electricity generation and received an Environmental Quality Seal for Alpine Club Huts in 2016. This recognition demonstrates commitment to sustainable practices in the high-altitude environment.
