Rathaus Friedenau, Administrative building in Friedenau, Germany
Rathaus Friedenau is an administrative building in Tempelhof-Schöneberg characterized by a simplified neoclassical design with symmetrical proportions and structured facade elements. The building rises 71 meters high and functions as the municipal center for the neighborhood.
The building was constructed between 1913 and 1916 by architect Hans Altmann, reflecting early 20th-century design principles. It sustained major damage during World War II and was rebuilt during the 1950s.
The town hall stands as the administrative center of the neighborhood and serves as the main point of contact for residents handling official matters. A relief on the facade commemorates architect Hans Altmann and the construction years of the building.
The building is located at Rheinstrasse 1 and is easily accessible by public transport. Bus lines M48 and M85, S-Bahn line S1, and U-Bahn line U9 all serve the area well.
Since 2016, parts of the town hall have housed refugee women and children from approximately 45 different nations. The building thus functions not only as an administrative center but also as an important support facility for vulnerable populations.
