The facility spans 1.1 square kilometers along Lake Werbellin, featuring multiple dormitories, sports halls, a cinema, a library, and an outdoor theater.
The German Democratic Republic Council of Ministers established this pioneer camp in 1952, designed by architect Richard Paulick to mirror the Soviet Artek camp.
From 1952 to 1989, the camp provided political education and recreational activities for members of the Pioneer and Free German Youth organizations.
The center currently offers accommodation for 1,000 guests in modernized facilities, including seminar hotels, guest houses, and youth hostels.
The facility contains a preserved Mongolian yurt, representing the international connections maintained during its time as a pioneer republic.
