Schloss Amerdingen

Schloss Amerdingen is a three-story residential manor in the Bavarian Ries region with a rectangular footprint, a central projecting section, and two single-story wings arranged around an inner courtyard. The building features a hipped roof and sits within landscaped grounds that extend westward from the main structure.

The structure experienced major destruction during two separate conflicts in the early modern period, after which rebuilding efforts reshaped its appearance. The work that followed these events created the building that stands on the property today.

The residence reflects the tastes of its residents through carefully designed interior spaces and its relationship to the surrounding landscape. The main rooms positioned toward the park reveal how the family organized daily life around views of nature and the grounds.

Within the western gardens sits an eight-columned pavilion with a distinctive round roof that originally served as a boundary marker for the landscaped grounds. This small temple structure has become a focal point for those viewing the estate from the surrounding area.
