Schloss Assenheim

Schloss Assenheim is a three-winged building from the 18th and 19th centuries with interiors in Louis XVI style and older furnishings from family collections. The rooms display how the structure evolved from a fortress-like medieval form to a residential dwelling.

A medieval castle stood at this site before the current building began in the 18th century. The Lords of Münzenberg had shaped this location for generations before it changed hands.

The name reflects the medieval family that once held power here, and visitors walking through the rooms today encounter furnishings and decorations spanning different periods.

The site offers visiting hours and allows visitors to walk through the various rooms, which are generally accessible without major obstacles. The surrounding grounds are also open to explore at a relaxed pace.

The park surrounding the castle displays two different design styles from different eras that remain visible today. An original Anglo-Chinese garden was later transformed into an English landscape design.
