Schloss Diepenbrock, Medieval moated castle in Bocholt, Germany

The rectangular manor house of Schloss Diepenbrock stands on a small island, separated from other castle buildings by water-filled moats.

The castle, first documented in 1326, received its name from the West German expression 'diepen brock', referring to the surrounding marshy landscape.

The interior of Schloss Diepenbrock maintains elements from the Rococo period, preserved through restoration work conducted since the 1970s.

The castle cafe opens Monday and Tuesday from 8:00 to 12:00, Wednesday to Friday from 8:00 to 18:00, and weekends from 9:00 to 18:00.

The castle park features ancient yews, weeping willows, cypresses, and rare specimens including tulip trees and giant sequoias.
