Schloss Gültz, Manor house in Gültz, Germany
Schloss Gültz is a manor house in Gültz featuring neoclassical design with romantic influences, marked by a three-level front facade topped with a triangular pediment. The interior contains refined decorative elements and the building currently operates as a hotel.
The castle was built between 1868 and 1872 for Baron Helmuth von Maltzahn, a high-ranking state official, and stayed in the hands of his Pomeranian family branch for generations. Following its use as a boarding school, major restorations took place in the 1980s and 1999 to restore the building.
The interior features a grand ballroom with gilded stucco ceilings and a columned entrance hall that reflect the refined tastes of its original owners. These spaces today show how the wealthy lived and entertained in the 19th century.
The site is easy to explore on foot as the main areas are close together and the park is readily accessible. Visitors should allow time for a walk through the grounds to appreciate the landscaping and mature trees that surround the manor.
The surrounding park was designed by renowned landscape architect Peter Joseph Lenné and features red maples, magnolias, plane trees, and twelve lime trees arranged in an oval formation. This carefully planned greenspace reflects the sophisticated garden design traditions of the 1800s.
