Seelenberg, Administrative region in Schmitten im Taunus, Germany

Seelenberg is an administrative region in Schmitten im Taunus situated at about 584 meters elevation within the Taunus mountain range. Surrounding hills and dense woodland create a landscape dominated by natural features.

The area was first documented in 1272 as Selderberg, indicating a long history of settlement. A significant moment came in 1695 when ten families from the Liège region established a new settlement here.

The Church of Saint Casimir, consecrated in 1711, remains the focal point for community gatherings and religious services today. It shapes the village character and serves as a meeting place for residents and visitors.

The main road runs through Seelenberg connecting to Weiltal Valley and Kittelhütte Pass, where multiple hiking trails start. Visitors should bring sturdy footwear since the forest paths and hills require regular walking.

Protected nature reserves in the Saubach and Nidgesbach valleys border the area, with their meadows forming an ecologically valuable zone. These reserves make this location important for nature and landscape conservation in the region.
