Schloss Kronwinkl

Schloss Kronwinkl is a castle in Eching with a rectangular four-wing layout and a 22-meter-tall Romanesque round tower featuring stone walls 3.5 meters thick. The entire complex displays the solid construction methods from different periods of its long history.

The Lords of Preysing built this castle in the 12th century as their family seat. Major renovations in the 16th century reshaped its appearance and structure.

The chapel inside is dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua and shows Baroque details from its setup in 1679. This religious purpose remains visible to visitors walking around the grounds, even though the castle is privately owned today.

The castle is now a private residence and can be viewed from outside while respecting posted signs and maintaining distance from the structures. The best time for photographs is during daylight hours when the architecture is clearly visible from a distance.

The residential wing called Lehenstock was added around 1580 and features distinctive stair gables from later architectural changes. These decorative gables are among the most eye-catching details when viewing the exterior.
