Schloss Kronwinkl is a castle in Eching, Bavaria, built around a closed inner courtyard with four wings and topped by a Romanesque round tower. The tower walls are notably thick, giving the whole structure a fortified appearance from the outside.
The Lords of Preysing built this castle in the 12th century as their family seat. Major renovations in the 16th century reshaped its appearance and added new sections to the structure.
The chapel inside is dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua and shows Baroque details from when it was fitted out in the late 17th century. Visitors walking around the outside of the grounds can notice the chapel facade, even though the property is privately owned today.
The castle is now a private residence and can only be seen from the outside. Visitors should respect any posted signs and keep a comfortable distance from the buildings to avoid disturbing the residents.
The residential wing known as Lehenstock was added around 1580 and later received decorative stepped gables along its facade. These gables stand out clearly when looking at the exterior and set this wing apart from the rest of the complex.
