Schloss Mariakirchen

Schloss Mariakirchen is a water castle in Arnstorf with a prominent main tower and a freestanding inner courtyard. The structure is surrounded by a protective water moat that encircles the entire complex.

The castle was reconstructed from 1550 onwards by Georg von Closen and Barbara von Notthafft, transforming a medieval structure into a château. In the 19th century, battlements were added that altered its exterior appearance.

The interior ceiling paintings display motifs that reflect regional artistic traditions and showcase the craftsmanship of their era. Visitors encounter these details as they move through the rooms, experiencing the local artistic styles directly.
