Seilbahn Ochsenkopf-Nord, Mountain cable car at Ochsenkopf peak, Bavaria, Germany.
The Seilbahn Ochsenkopf-Nord is an aerial lift system in the Fichtel Mountains near Kulmbach that carries visitors up the slope. The installation connects the lower station with the upper mountain area, serving both winter sports enthusiasts and summer hikers throughout the year.
The installation replaced an older two-person chairlift that operated on this route starting in 1991. This modernization in 2023 brought larger cabins and increased capacity to serve more visitors per hour.
The cable car provides access to Northern Bavaria's winter sports center, where local ski schools introduce newcomers to alpine traditions.
The journey takes about 6 minutes and the system moves many passengers per hour. Year-round operation makes it accessible for different seasons and activities.
The system can also transport bicycles, allowing mountain bikers to bring their equipment uphill. This opens access to downhill routes that would otherwise require a long climb.
