Simultanhalle, Exhibition hall in Volkhoven/Weiler, Germany
The Simultanhalle stands as a cubic structure with a sawtooth roof design, featuring directed lighting systems and specialized wall surfaces for art displays.
Built in 1979 by architects Busmann and Haberer, this structure served as an architectural test model for the Museum Ludwig's construction in central Cologne.
The exhibition space transformed from a temporary structure into a center for contemporary art, hosting regional and international artists since its first show in 1983.
The interior space remains closed since 2018 due to structural issues, with current exhibitions and performances taking place in the surrounding outdoor areas.
Master students from Düsseldorf's University of Applied Science developed ecological preservation strategies in 2022 to maintain this endangered architectural structure.
