Hoher Bogen transmitter, Radio transmitter tower in Rimbach, Germany.
Hoher Bolog is a concrete broadcast tower situated in the Bavarian Forest at an elevation of 957 meters above sea level. The facility transmits radio and television signals across a wide region of Bavaria.
The first broadcasting installation was built in 1952 as a steel lattice mast and was replaced between 1964 and 1965 with the current concrete structure. The replacement allowed for wider coverage of radio signals across the region.
The transmitter, operated by Bayerischer Rundfunk, broadcasts multiple radio frequencies including BR-Klassik and Bayern 3 programs across the region.
The site sits at a high elevation in the landscape and is not open for public tours. Visitors can see and photograph the tower from various viewing points in the surrounding area.
The tower required a specialized Russian helicopter to install new broadcasting equipment during its 2006 modernization phase.
