Sollbrüggenpark, Cultural heritage park in Krefeld, Germany.
Sollbrüggenpark is a park spanning roughly 6 hectares built around a classical manor house at its center, surrounded by formal gardens and natural landscape areas. The grounds combine structured garden layouts with open lawns and mature trees that define the space.
The park was created in 1840 when silk manufacturer Peter de Greiff commissioned architect Adolf von Vagedes to transform the medieval estate into a classical manor house. This redesign turned the grounds into a representative residence with formal gardens.
The historic manor house now hosts the city's Music School, where visitors can see paintings from the Wilhelmine era and Art Nouveau period decorating the walls and ceilings. These artworks give the place an artistic character that becomes apparent as you walk through the building.
The park sits at Uerdingerstraße 500 in the Bockum district and is easily accessible through surrounding pathways and green areas. The grounds allow for relaxed walks through different sections without requiring any special equipment or preparation.
The grounds are home to Krefeld's only Overcup Oak tree, a rare species normally found in North America. This botanical peculiarity makes the park an unexpected destination for nature enthusiasts and tree specialists.
