St. Johann Baptist, Catholic church in Bad Honnef, Germany
St. Johann Baptist combines Gothic and Romanesque architectural elements, featuring a five-story tower with an octagonal spire and transept added in 1914.
The church site dates back to the 8th century, with the current structure incorporating parts of a late Romanesque building, including the tower and two pillars.
The interior contains medieval artwork, including a 1514 sandstone sculpture, three retables at the tomb, and a Romanesque baptismal font made from Siebengebirgs-Trachyt.
The church underwent major restoration from September 2017 to December 2018, and now serves the Catholic community as part of the Archdiocese of Cologne.
The bell tower houses six bells, including the Christus bell weighing 2650 kg cast in 1954 and the Maria bell weighing 1800 kg from 1854.
