St. Peter und Paul, Roman Catholic parish church in Munich, Germany
St. Peter und Paul Church exhibits a combination of Gothic and Baroque architectural elements, with a prominent 91-meter tower dominating the structure.
Founded before Munich's establishment in 1158, the church site originally housed a pre-Merovingian religious building and underwent reconstruction after a fire in 1327.
The church interior contains valuable artifacts, including Gothic paintings by Jan Polack and a ceiling fresco created by Johann Baptist Zimmermann between 1753 and 1756.
The church tower provides visitors access to a viewing platform reached by climbing 306 steps, offering views across Munich and extending to the Alps.
The tower houses Munich's oldest bells, with four of the eight bells cast between 1327 and 1720, including one that formerly announced executions.
