Fernmeldeturm Regensburg-Ziegetsberg

Fernmeldeturm Regensburg-Ziegetsberg is a concrete broadcast tower located on Ziegetsberg hill near Regensburg. The structure tapers as it rises, creating a distinctive silhouette visible from many parts of the city.

Built between 1974 and 1976, it replaced an older steel tower that had become inadequate for broadcasting needs. A technological shift in broadcasting methods led to antenna modifications years later.

The tower includes an observation platform between 75 and 83 meters that was intended for public visits but remained closed due to financial constraints.

The tower is visible from many vantage points around the city and serves as a useful landmark for orientation. Its location on the hilltop makes it accessible by road and offers views across the surrounding area.

A viewing platform was designed inside the tower at mid-height but never opened to the public due to budget limitations. This intended feature would have provided a closer perspective on the city and surrounding landscape.
