St. Martin, Parish church in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.

St. Martin is a parish church in Garmisch-Partenkirchen built in late Baroque style, marked by a simple nave, side chapels, and Corinthian pillars on the walls. Large curved windows distribute light evenly throughout the interior and illuminate the architectural details.

The first church was built around 750 as a simple wooden chapel founded by Irish and Scottish monks. It was later replaced by a stone church in the Romanesque style before the current Baroque building came into existence.

The interior features ceiling frescoes painted by Matthäus Günther depicting religious scenes in warm tones. These artworks shape how the church space looks and reflect the faith of the community that has used this place for centuries.

The church is located at Marienplatz in the town center and is open to visitors on most days. Guided tours are available to explain the building and its history, so it is helpful to check opening times in advance.

The church tower holds eight bronze bells, with the oldest dating from 1513. The remaining seven were cast at a later time and each produces a different tone.
