St. Lambertus

St Lambertus features a prominent tower of Dutch late Gothic style and a brick hall structure with reinforced concrete skeleton and flat-ended chancel.

The original wooden church burned down in the 9th century, leading to construction of a sandstone hall church using salvaged Roman materials.

The church maintains regular religious services, hosts parish events, and distributes a newsletter to keep the congregation informed about activities.

Located at Johannismarkt 16 in Erkelenz, the church underwent repairs in 2013 and 2014 to address structural damages and maintain its condition.

A crypt lies beneath the chancel, while the main structure combines Romanesque elements with the Dutch late Gothic tower architecture.
