St. Lambertus

St. Lambertus is a Gothic parish church in Erkelenz featuring a striking tower in Dutch late Gothic style and a brick hall structure supported by reinforced concrete framework. The chancel ends flat and contrasts with the older Romanesque elements of the building.

A wooden church originally stood on this site before burning down in the 9th century, prompting construction of a new sandstone hall church. The builders incorporated materials salvaged from Roman ruins, reflecting the region's long history of settlement.
