St. Lambertus, Catholic church in Bad Schönborn, Germany
St. Lambertus is a church in Bad Schönborn combining a Gothic choir from the 15th century with a Baroque nave built after 1760. The building features nine bells in its tower, one of the largest bell collections among village parish churches in the Freiburg archdiocese.
The church originated in the 8th century but underwent a major redesign in the 15th century with a new Gothic choir and tower base. A Baroque transformation of the nave followed after 1760, creating the appearance it has today.
The side chapel displays altars honoring Mary and Rochus, which together with the main altar from 1900 shape how the interior feels. These devotional elements reflect the spiritual traditions that continue to be practiced in this space.
The church is open to visitors but calls for quiet and respectful behavior inside. Plan your visit outside service times and private events to fully experience the interior.
The church houses a mechanical organ built in 1993 by organ builder Gerhard Schmid with 50 registers across four manuals and pedal. This instrument represents a modern connection to the craft tradition of organ building.
