The Stadttheater Passau features classical architectural elements across its facade, with a main entrance located on Gottfried-Schäffer-Straße in central Passau.
Established in 1774, the building began as a gymnasium for ball sports before its transformation into a full-fledged theatre serving the Prince Bishop of Passau.
The theatre houses both the Landestheater Niederbayern Company and the Niederbayerisches Philharmonic Orchestra, presenting dramas, operas, and symphonic performances throughout the year.
The box office operates Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with additional hours on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM.
With 330 annual performances, the theatre engages over 90,000 spectators and extends its productions to partner cities Landshut and Straubing across southeastern Bavaria.
