Theater Lüneburg is a three-genre theatre in Lüneburg with its own ensembles for drama, music theatre and ballet, plus the 29-member Lüneburger Symphoniker. It performs in three venues: the Großes Haus with 542 seats, the Studio T.NT with 99 seats and the Junge Theater T.3 with 140 seats. The main house opened on 8 October 1961 in the former Globe cinema with Shakespeare's Was ihr wollt.

Founded in 1946 as the Lüneburger Bühne under director Rolf Hübner, it opened on 29 September 1946 in the 525-seat gymnasium of the MTV Treubund club. On 8 October 1961 the company moved into its own house, the former Globe cinema, opening with Shakespeare's Was ihr wollt. The building was thoroughly renovated in 1995/1996, and the Junge Theater opened beside the main house on 20 October 2009.

The Niederdeutsche Bühne Sülfmeister e. V., an amateur Low German stage founded in 1986 at Thomas Bayer's suggestion, performs in the T.NT. The Theater Lüneburg's own ensembles cover Schauspiel, Musiktheater and Ballett, and the 29-member Lüneburger Symphoniker play Christmas and New Year concerts alongside their music-theatre work.

The main house on An den Reeperbahn seats 542, the T.NT studio 99 and the T.3 youth theatre 140, so the venue you booked matters. The T.NT moved into the main theatre complex in 1996, next to the Great House. The season once ran only eight to nine months; from 1986 it was extended step by step to ten and then eleven months.

The Theater Lüneburg grew out of the Lüneburger Bühne, founded in 1946 by intendant Rolf Hübner, which opened on 29 September 1946 in the 525-seat gymnasium of the MTV Treubund club. Its own building followed on 8 October 1961, when the Stadttheater opened in the former Globe cinema with Shakespeare's Was ihr wollt, directed by intendant Heinz Zimmermann.
