Sternwarte Halle, Observatory tower in Halle (Saale), Germany.

Sternwarte Halle is an octagonal tower with three floors situated in the western part of the Botanical Garden. The structure features four balconies aligned with the cardinal directions, giving the building a symmetrical appearance.

The tower was constructed in 1788 and stands as the oldest building erected by the University of Halle. The classical structure was built during a period when observatories played a crucial role in scientific research and navigation.

The building displays classical architecture with a Doric portico that catches visitors' attention upon arrival. Its architectural style continues to define the appearance of the Botanical Garden and makes the structure a recognizable landmark in the city.

Access leads through a vestibule to the meridian hall on the ground floor, from where visitors can explore the interior. The building sits within the Botanical Garden, so visitors can combine the visit with a walk through the surrounding grounds.

The top floor housed a refractor hall for astronomical observations until 1923, when operations ceased. This historic space shows that the building once played a central role in the city's scientific work, though it now stands as a cultural monument.
