Teufelsley, Mountain summit in East Eifel, Germany.

Teufelsley is a mountain summit in the East Eifel region, distinguished by its characteristic quartzite rock formations. The largest contiguous block of quartzite stone on the European continent appears at the surface here.

The mountain takes its name from old local folklore, with legends mentioning fortresses built by supernatural forces. Writer Gottfried Kinkel recorded these stories in his accounts.

The mountain shapes how people in the region imagine their landscape, with its distinctive rocks tied to old stories about hidden ruins. These tales give the place special meaning in local memory.

Hikers can reach the summit along marked pathways, with a mountain shelter called Teufelsleyhütte available on the eastern side. The peak is accessible by foot for hikers of varying abilities, with multiple routes starting from different trailheads.

Despite its geological importance, this peak remains less famous than other summits in the region. Its striking quartzite blocks were exposed through natural erosion over millions of years, creating an unusual texture across the landscape.
