Vorder Felder-Kopf, Alpine summit in Ammergauer Alps, Germany

Vorder Felder-Kopf is a mountain summit in the Ammergauer Alps standing at 1,928 meters elevation. It sits on a ridge section spanning roughly 3 kilometers between Kienjoch and Notkarspitze.

The Vordere Felderkopf is the highest point of a ridge running west to east between the Kienjoch and the Notkarspitze, with the Großer Zunderkopf (1,895 m) and Brünstelskopf (1,814 m) to the northeast and the Felderkopf (1,818 m) and Windstierlkopf (1,824 m) to the west. Its long southern approach from the Enningalm (1,551 m) and the surrounding peaks has kept it lightly visited, mostly by hikers traversing the whole ridge.

The ridge between Brünstelskopf and Windstierlkopf is easy to walk, so the Vordere Felderkopf is usually crossed as part of a long ridge traverse rather than climbed alone. Its long approach from Farchant or Griesen keeps it little visited. The summit is reached directly from the Enningalm at 1,551 m in about 1.5 hours.

The ascent from Enningalm takes roughly one and a half hours on marked trails. Starting points are accessible from the towns of Farchant and Griesen, with routes converging at the base of the climb.

The ridge runs west to east for over three kilometres, from the Kienjoch to the Notkarspitze, and the whole stretch between the Brünstelskopf and the Windstierlkopf is easy to walk. Because the approach from the Enningalm is long, the summit is rarely visited and is usually climbed as part of a full ridge traverse.
