Villa Ichon, Protected cultural heritage monument in Mitte, Bremen, Germany
Located at Goetheplatz 4, Villa Ichon stands as a residential structure with a tower on its southwest side and a two-story bay window on the northwest corner.
The villa was built in 1849 and underwent major renovations in 1871 when architect Johann Georg Poppe transformed the building into a neo-Renaissance design.
The building functions as a venue for art exhibitions, concerts, and awards ceremonies, including the annual Culture and Peace Prize with a 5,000 euro endowment.
Villa Ichon houses several pacifist organizations and contains a restaurant, making it accessible to visitors interested in both cultural activities and dining.
Local entrepreneur Klaus Hübotter saved the villa from demolition in 1973 by initiating a restoration project that received federal funding and preservation awards.
