Wasserschloss Taufkirchen

Wasserschloss Taufkirchen is a moated castle in Bavaria with four wings surrounding a central courtyard, protected by water channels on all sides. The entire structure demonstrates classic medieval building design with its compact, symmetrical form.

The castle was first documented in 1263 and changed hands multiple times over the centuries. Taufkirchen's municipality acquired it in 2016, securing its future.

The Fugger Hall serves as a venue for concerts and local celebrations, while the historic chapel with its ancient altar remains a place for reflection. Visitors can appreciate the religious significance through the simple furnishings and details of the chapel's interior.

An elevator and wheelchair-accessible pathways make it easy for visitors with mobility limitations to move around. Parking spaces are available, and the grounds are straightforward to explore.

The chapel houses the remains of Saint Victor, a 13-year-old martyr, transferred from Roman catacombs in 1695. This unusual spiritual connection to ancient religious history makes the chapel a distinctive place.
