Wissenschaftszentrum Straubing, Research center in Straubing, Germany

The Wissenschaftszentrum Straubing is a research facility of the Technical University of Munich that focuses on renewable resources, biomass conversion, and sustainable technologies. The center houses specialized laboratories and modern research facilities where scientists work on practical solutions for the bioeconomy.

In 1998 the Bavarian state government decided to concentrate its renewable-resources activities in Straubing. The Kompetenzzentrum für Nachwachsende Rohstoffe was founded there in January 2001, and in July 2001 the concept was extended by the Wissenschaftszentrum Straubing, with Martin Faulstich as founding director. On 28 July 2016 the Bavarian Ministerrat resolved to convert it into a university campus run by the Technical University of Munich; this took effect on 1 October 2017, with Volker Sieber as founding rector.

The campus forms the KoNaRo competence centre for renewable raw materials together with the Technologie- und Förderzentrum and C.A.R.M.E.N. e. V., which moved to Straubing in 2001. Since September 2019 the Karmelitenkirche has served as the university church of the Technical University of Munich, officially dedicated on 1 July 2023.

The campus occupies the grounds of the former Franciscan monastery; the Schulgasse 16 building was constructed between 2006 and 2009. A lecture and laboratory building opened near the Danube bank in October 2021, with a tiered lecture hall seating up to 300. The Karmelitenkirche has served as the university church since September 2019, formally dedicated on 1 July 2023.
