Wittelsbacher Palace, City palace in Maxvorstadt, Munich, Germany

The red brick palace, designed by Friedrich von Gärtner, features elements of Early English Gothic architecture at the corner of Brienner Strasse and Türkenstraße.

King Ludwig I resided in the palace from 1848 to 1868, followed by Ludwig III who lived there until 1918 during significant political changes.

The structure represents the Maximilianstil architectural movement, which combined various European design elements in 19th century Bavarian construction.

The palace location at 48.144167°N, 11.572222°E provides visitors access to numerous cultural institutions and landmarks in the Maxvorstadt district.

Two stone lions by Johann Halbig guarded the entrance, with one now serving as a memorial for journalist Fritz Gerlich at Munich Catholic Academy.
