Alt-St. Nikolaus, Romanesque church in Kessenich, Germany
The Alt-St. Nikolaus features a rectangular tower on its west side and three naves, displaying traditional Romanesque architectural elements throughout its structure.
The central hall of Alt-St. Nikolaus dates back to the mid-11th century, making it one of the earliest remaining churches in the Bonn region.
The church interior contains a baptismal font made from Drachenfels trachyte stone in 1571, representing local craftsmanship and religious practices.
The building serves multiple purposes, hosting religious services, church celebrations, and community events following extensive renovations between 1965 and 1970.
The left side nave was constructed around 1590, while the right side nave was added much later between 1749 and 1750.
