Märzenbecherwald von Algersdorf, Natural monument in Kirchensittenbach, Germany.
The Märzenbecherwald of Algersdorf is a dense deciduous forest near Kirchensittenbach situated on an eastern slope of Sittenbach Valley. The wooded area is modest in size, but thousands of white spring snowflake flowers transform the forest floor from March through April.
German authorities designated this site as a natural monument in 1980 to protect the spring flowers and their woodland habitat. This protected status was essential for preserving the flora from disturbance.
Locals and visitors gather here each spring to witness and photograph the white blossoms that cover the forest floor. This annual tradition has become woven into the rhythm of the region's springtime celebrations.
You can park in Algersdorf village and walk to the forest where marked paths guide you through the area. The best time to visit is March or April when the flowers are in full bloom.
This forest contains the largest concentration of spring snowflakes in the entire Nuremberg Land district and is among the most significant populations of this flower in the region. The dense clustering in one location makes it a rare natural spectacle.
