Erdwerk von Müsleringen, Neolithic archaeological site in Stolzenau, Germany.
The Erdwerk von Müsleringen is a Neolithic earthwork on elevated ground near Stolzenau consisting of semicircular double ditches with multiple entrances. The system spreads across approximately four hectares and sits between former river channels.
The site was discovered during an aerial survey in 2008 and subsequently excavated to reveal artifacts from the fourth millennium BCE. The findings provided evidence of early population groups who inhabited and used this location during that period.
The site reveals traces of early settlers who made pottery and left their mark on the landscape. These remains show how people of different groups used and valued this location.
The site sits on private agricultural land and visits require coordination with the farmer who manages the property. Spring and fall visits work best when the field is most accessible.
Students from a school in Hannover participated in excavations and uncovered grinding stones, clay plates, and carbonized grain that had survived for thousands of years. This educational partnership brought archaeological work to life for younger generations.
