Schloss Wiesent

Schloss Wiesent is a château in Bavaria featuring a long single-story baroque structure with two corner towers and a prominent portal displaying elaborate architectural details. Today the building combines its historic fabric with modern uses, housing private apartments and banking services within its walls.

The castle was built before 1264 for the Lords of Wiesental and served as a fortified residence in the region. It suffered severe damage in 1630 during the Thirty Years' War but was rebuilt in 1695 and later adapted for new purposes.

The Hudetz Tower holds a museum dedicated to painter Karl Anton Hudetz, linking the castle to the region's artistic heritage. You can experience how this space keeps local art alive and visible to those who visit.

The castle sits at Schlossplatz 1 and offers partial public access through its courtyard area. Keep in mind that sections of the building remain private residences, so you can only explore certain spaces when visiting.

The castle operated a brewery until 1881, combining its role as a noble residence with manufacturing operations. This dual use was a practical way for castle owners in the 19th century to generate extra income from their property.
