Sender Rostock-Krummendorf, Radio and TV transmitting station in Rostock, Germany
Sender Rostock-Krummendorf is a radio and television transmitting station featuring a tall steel lattice mast near Rostock. The facility includes multiple antenna platforms designed to broadcast signals across the surrounding region.
Construction began in April 2013, and the station started operating in early 2014. It consolidated broadcasting from several older facilities that previously served the region separately.
The transmitter broadcasts ten radio programs, including five NDR programs, two Deutschlandfunk programs, Ostseewelle, Antenne MV, and LOHRO, serving 600,000 people in the region.
The station is visible from a distance and can be photographed from surrounding roads and areas. Keep in mind the location is in an industrial zone where direct access near the mast may be restricted.
The antenna design was specifically engineered to prevent signals from reaching across the Baltic Sea while concentrating coverage on the immediate region. This technical choice shows how broadcasters can deliberately limit transmission range.
