Frieda 23, Arts and media center in Rostock, Germany.
Frieda 23 is a converted former school building on Friedrichstraße that now houses workshops, studios, offices, seminar rooms, a cinema, and recording facilities for various creative work. The spaces are designed to support film production, circus arts, radio work, and other media and artistic activities.
The building began as a prefabricated school and was later transformed into an arts and media center. Today it operates under KARO gAG management to support regional cultural initiatives and creative projects throughout the region.
The building houses ten different arts and media practitioners who work and create here together in shared spaces. Their daily presence shapes the place and makes it a spot where visitors can encounter artists and media makers actively engaged in their projects.
The building offers film screenings, workshops, circus performances, and radio production activities throughout the year across its various specialized spaces. You can explore different areas and events depending on your interests when you visit.
Inside the building sits a Zukunftsladen section focused on sustainable living practices and environmental topics. This part shows how a creative space can also make room for social responsibility and practical guidance on green living.
