Frieda 23 is a converted former school building on Friedrichstraße that now houses workshops, studios, offices, seminar rooms, a cinema, and recording facilities for various creative work. The spaces are designed to support film production, circus arts, radio work, and other media and artistic activities.

Frieda 23 reopened in April 2014 at Friedrichstraße 23 in Rostock's Kröpeliner-Tor-Vorstadt district after several years of renovation. It is run by the non-profit KARO AG. The house brings together the Institut für neue Medien, the Kunst.Schule.Rostock., the Jugendmedienverband Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the cinema li.wu. – Lichtspieltheater Wundervoll.

The cinema li.wu. – Lichtspieltheater Wundervoll and the Institut für neue Medien are the Rostock branch of Filmkommunikation Landesverband Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the state umbrella body of cultural cinemas and film clubs.

The building offers film screenings, workshops, circus performances, and radio production activities throughout the year across its various specialized spaces. You can explore different areas and events depending on your interests when you visit.

The house also contains the PopKW, the state association for popular music and the creative economy in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and the Opennet Initiative, alongside the Fantasia AG and the Sense.Lab. The Medien Colleg Rostock and LOHRO share the address with the Kunst.Schule.Rostock.
