Haus Bachem, Heritage building in Königswinter-Altstadt, Germany.
Haus Bachem is a two-story residential building in Königswinter's old town featuring seven window axes arranged along its plaster facade. The building displays sash windows with shutters and frames made from trachyte stone, giving it a uniform classical appearance.
The building was constructed in 1825 by stonemason Theodor Bachem and shaped the character of the old town. It received a notable royal visit from the future King Edward VII in 1857 when he passed through the region.
The ground floor hall regularly hosts local wine celebrations and community gatherings that draw residents throughout the year. The former carriage house now serves as the registry office, showing how the building has adapted its spaces for modern civic needs.
The building is easily visible from the street and can be observed during walking tours through the old town area. Since interior access is limited to administrative functions, it is best appreciated from the outside and surrounding public spaces.
Two decorative sandstone dragon heads that once served as water spouts remain preserved in the rear garden among mature trees. These unusual ornaments reveal the craftsmanship details that visitors often walk past without noticing.
