Grube Christiane

The underground passages of Grube Christiane extend for 1,200 meters through limestone formations containing red ironstone deposits and mineral formations.

Mining operations at Grube Christiane reached their peak in 1960, extracting 155,784 tonnes of iron ore with an average content of 30.35 percent.

The Adorf miners' association transformed the former industrial site into an educational center displaying mining techniques and geological processes through multimedia exhibits.

Tours lasting 90 minutes run from Easter through October, with different schedules during summer months and winter closure, maintaining a constant temperature of 8°C.

The mine tunnels contain preserved machinery and tools from different mining periods, accompanied by mannequin displays demonstrating historical extraction methods.
