Kloster Bredelar, Cistercian monastery in Marsberg, Germany.
The monastery complex includes stone buildings with high walls, arched windows, and a central courtyard surrounded by covered walkways and gardens.
Founded in 1170 as a Premonstratensian nunnery, the monastery transformed into a Cistercian abbey in 1196 under Archbishop Adolf I of Cologne.
The monastery houses the Theodorshütte Museum, displaying industrial artifacts and featuring a demonstration foundry that preserves local manufacturing traditions.
Visitors can access the monastery grounds through the east entrance, with guided tours available by contacting the local historical society at 02991 962535.
The Bredelar Bible, created during the monastery's medieval period, remains preserved at the University Library of Darmstadt.
