Haus der Deutschen Erziehung, Educational center in Bayreuth, Germany.
Haus der Deutschen Erziehung is an architectural structure in Bayreuth featuring a steel frame and sandstone facade with a slate-covered hipped roof. Located at Luitpoldplatz 5, the building was designed as a representative facility with large assembly halls, an extensive library, and administrative offices.
Hans Schemm laid the foundation stone in September 1933 for the building that was constructed as headquarters of the National Socialist Teachers League. It remained an important facility of this organization until 1945 before being repurposed after the war.
The building served as a gathering place for the National Socialist Teachers League and shaped Bayreuth's urban landscape through its representative design. Today the spacious rooms remain a reminder of its use as an assembly venue during that era.
Today the building is used and maintained by Bayernwerk, an energy supply company that preserves the historical structure. The interior is not freely accessible to visitors since it operates as an administrative and business facility.
During construction, a section of the mill canal, a tributary of the Red Main River, was built over to accommodate the new building. This adaptation to existing infrastructure shows how the structure was integrated into the city's layout.
