Heilandskapelle Klingetal
Heilandskapelle Klingetal, Lutheran chapel in Frankfurt (Oder), Germany.
Heilandskapelle Klingetal is a wooden chapel in Frankfurt (Oder) with a church nave, two-story tower, and entrance hall decorated with dragon head carvings and wooden reliefs. The structure combines traditional building methods with elaborate handcrafted details.
The chapel was built between 1915 and 1916 by Russian prisoners of war housed in a camp. It served multiple religious communities among the thousands of soldiers held there during wartime.
The chapel displays Russian folk architectural influences in its log cabin construction and carved wooden details. These elements remain visible today and shape the building's distinctive appearance.
The chapel is located in the Heimkehr district at Eichenweg 40/41. It remains active today and can be visited during regular opening times.
The chapel's interior contains hand-carved altars and artistic works created by imprisoned soldiers during their captivity. These works show the creative and spiritual expression of the prisoners during wartime.
