Heilandskapelle Klingetal
Heilandskapelle Klingetal, Lutheran chapel in Frankfurt (Oder), Germany.
The Heilandskapelle Klingetal features wooden construction with a church nave, two-story tower, and entrance hall adorned with dragon head carvings and wooden reliefs.
Built between 1915 and 1916 by Russian prisoners of war, this chapel initially served multiple religious communities in a camp that held up to 23,000 international soldiers.
The chapel's exterior design incorporates elements of Russian folk architecture, demonstrated through its log cabin construction style and decorative wooden elements.
Located at Eichenweg 40/41 in the Heimkehr settlement, the chapel continues to function as a religious center under the Lutheran Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia.
The interior contains hand-carved altarpieces and artistic works created by the imprisoned soldiers during World War I, representing their cultural expression during captivity.
