Protestant Church

The Protestant Church of Lüttringhausen sits in the southern center of Remscheid and was built from unplastered quarry stone in Baroque style. The building features a prominent tower rising above the single nave and a sacristy topped with an angel figure.

A church occupied this site as far back as 1300, with a priest named Johann documented serving the community in 1365. The medieval building was replaced by the current structure following two major fires, the second occurring in 1733.

The building serves as a central meeting place for the Protestant community in the Lennep district and continues to shape religious life in the neighborhood. It hosts worship services and community events that remain woven into daily local life.

The site lies in the southern center of Remscheid and is easily accessible on foot from most parts of the city. The distinctive tower silhouette makes the building easy to locate and visible from several surrounding streets.

The angel figure perched atop the sacristy is a striking decorative detail that many visitors overlook while focusing on the imposing tower. This small ornament reveals how much care went into crafting even the less visible parts of the structure.
