Theaterfabrik, Event venue in Au-Haidhausen, Germany.

Theaterfabrik is a converted brick hall in Unterföhring, northeast of Munich, on a former company site. Wolfgang Nöth and Herbert Frey bought the empty hall in 1983 and fitted it with event technology; it held around 1000 visitors. The building still stands unchanged but has not served as a venue since 1992. The name later passed to halls on the Optimolwerke site and, since 2022, to Musenbergstraße 40 in Munich-Johanneskirchen.

Wolfgang Nöth and Herbert Frey bought the empty brick hall in Unterföhring in 1983 and equipped it for concerts, since Munich's strict closing hours left no late venue; it held about 1000 visitors. The hall still stands unchanged but has not served as a venue since 1992. In May 2009 Nöth and Mathias Scheffel opened a second Theaterfabrik on the Optimolwerke site, and in September 2022 his daughter Laila Nöth opened a new hall at Musenbergstraße 40 in Johanneskirchen.

The Theaterfabrik's name moved with its founder: Wolfgang Nöth opened the first hall in Unterföhring in 1983, a second on the Optimolwerke site in 2009, and his daughter Laila opened a third in Johanneskirchen in 2022. The Unterföhring hall's Friday "disco orange", run by Jürgen Birr, played the same songs in the same order for long stretches and financed the venue. From 1985 the International Rock 'n' Roll/Rockabilly Meeting drew the European scene, and 1985 also brought "Schwarze Weihnacht", a counter-event to Christmas Eve with partly bloody performances.

The venue sits in southeast Munich and is easily accessible by public transportation. The halls can accommodate everything from smaller gatherings to large concerts depending on setup and event type.

The hall in Unterföhring still stands unchanged, but since 1992 it has no longer served as a venue. In 1989 it hosted the only concert Jean-Jacques Goldman ever played in Munich, and Ginger Baker's live album No Material was recorded there in 1987.
