Bewobau-Siedlung Quickborn, Group of houses in Marienhöhe, Quickborn, Germany.
Bewobau-Siedlung Quickborn is a residential settlement of 67 single-family and double houses arranged in nine distinct building types. These houses are distributed across a rectangular area bordered by Kieler Straße and other streets that define the neighborhood.
The settlement was built between 1962 and 1963 according to designs by architect Richard Neutra. It was designated a cultural heritage monument in 2006.
The houses display the design language of the post-war era with large glass surfaces and flat roofs, embodying a modern living style for that time. These features still shape the settlement's appearance today and show how residential comfort evolved in Germany during the 1960s.
The area can be explored on foot across a manageable site bounded by various streets. The best access is from Kieler Straße, where the center of the settlement is located.
In the 1960s, the Bewobau company tried to make the houses more attractive by offering a car with the purchase price. This offer was an unusual marketing tactic for a residential settlement and reveals the creative sales strategies of that era.
