Burghof

Burghof is a residential complex of seven red brick buildings in Flensburg with two courtyards and a fountain featuring a boy and fish sculpture. The complex provides access through gates at Toosbüystraße 11 and Marienstraße 22 and houses over 60 apartments near the pedestrian zone.

The site stood originally on the remains of a medieval tower that was part of Flensburg's city fortifications and served as a residence for important officials. The current complex was designed in 1909 by architect Paul Ziegler, replacing the old fortification with modern residential structures.

The buildings display local craftsmanship from the early 1900s through their facade design and decorative details. Visitors can observe how practical housing construction connected with artistic expression in every brick and ornament.

The complex is within walking distance of the pedestrian zone and is easily accessible for visitors exploring the area. Keep in mind this is a residential space, so visitors should maintain quiet and respect for residents.

The two courtyards are paved with cobblestones that replicate the historical layout of old German fortifications. This design is a visible echo of the site's past as a fortified stronghold.
