Lutherkirche, Lutheran church in Bahnhofsvorstadt, Zwickau, Germany
Lutherkirche is a church building in Zwickau featuring sandstone cladding over brick construction with an asymmetrical layout. An octagonal bell tower rises approximately 65 meters and shapes the city skyline.
Construction took place between 1902 and 1906 following designs by Dresden architects Schilling and Gräbner. The project represented one of the region's major religious building efforts of that era.
The church displays life-sized statues of Paul the Apostle and Martin Luther above its main portal, created by sculptor Martin Engelke. These figures give the building its distinctive character and speak to its spiritual mission.
The church is located at the intersection of Brunnenstrasse and Spiegelstrasse and is easy to access. The interior accommodates about 1000 people without supporting columns in the main nave, creating an open and spacious feel.
The Jehmlich organ from Dresden was installed in 1906 and later renovated in 1971. This instrument has three manuals and more than 3700 pipes, making it a remarkable installation.
