St. Albanus und Leonhardus, Gothic Revival church in Manheim, Germany.
The church structure incorporates lava from Volvic and regional rocks, featuring a grand staircase designed by architect Franz Statz in 1898.
The original church at this location dates to the Carolingian period, with subsequent buildings erected in 1356 and during the 16th century.
The parish of Saint Albanus and Leonhardus merged with Saint Martin parish of Kerpen in 2013, marking the end of its independent status.
The building faces demolition to accommodate the expansion of the Hambach open-pit mine, with plans to replace it with a forty-seat chapel.
The late Gothic church preserves parts of its original choir section within the current structure, built at the end of the 19th century.
