Wolfskehl’scher Park, Municipal park in Bessungen, Germany
Wolfskehl'scher Park is a municipal park in Bessungen with a terraced layout, mature trees, pathways, and seating areas. It features a children's playground, a sledding slope on the western side, and a replica of the Darmstadtia sculpture.
Architect Gustav Jacobi designed the park between 1895 and 1896 as a garden estate for the wealthy Wolfskehl family. The villa and other structures were destroyed during World War II, but the park grounds themselves survived.
The tea house in Biedermeier style on the north side is the only surviving building from the original estate. It reflects the taste and lifestyle of the wealthy family who once lived here.
The park is easy to walk through with multiple pathways and offers play opportunities for children plus a sledding slope during winter months. Benches are scattered across the terraced areas, providing visitors with several places to rest.
The hillside where the park now sits was once covered in vineyards as part of a wine-growing region. Original plans included an open-air amphitheater and a mineral water pavilion that were never built.
