The HUK-Coburg arena is a ball sports hall in the Lauterer Höhe commercial area in northern Coburg, near the A73 motorway exit. Its oval shell measures 92.20 m long, 66.80 m wide and 14.40 m high, with a 50 × 30 m playing field that dividing curtains split into three segments. The ceiling above the court is 9.61 m high.

A 2007 referendum rejected a multipurpose hall at Lauterer Höhe and backed one on Schützenanger instead. The city council then voted on 23 October 2008 for a pure sports hall on the Lauterer Höhe site. The contract with Sport StadiaNet GmbH, signed 13 October 2009, set a fixed price of 15.36 million euros; the first sod was cut on 1 December 2009. Delays by the general contractor led to a contractual penalty confirmed by the courts, and the hall opened on 13 August 2011.

The arena is home to HSC 2000 Coburg in the 2. Handball-Bundesliga and BBC Coburg in the 2. Basketball-Bundesliga ProB. Until its 2016 insolvency, VSG Coburg/Grub played its 1. Volleyball-Bundesliga matches here. On 3 October 2026, VfB Suhl Lotto Thüringen, as double winner, hosts the VBL-Supercup in the hall and uses it for Champions League fixtures.

The venue is easy to reach via highway A73, federal road B4, or city bus line 2, which has a dedicated stop at the arena. Ample parking spaces are available on the grounds, making it convenient for visitors and athletes to access the facility.

The arena holds approximately 3,530 spectators, with around 2,270 seated and over 1,200 standing places, while the playing surface itself measures 50 by 30 meters (164 by 98 feet). This mix of seating and standing room allows for comfort during matches while accommodating capacity crowds.
