The city council approved construction of this sports facility in October 2008 after an earlier multipurpose hall proposal had been rejected by voters. This decision led to the development of a dedicated sports building tailored to the needs of local athletic clubs.
The venue hosts regular games for HSC 2000 Coburg handball team and BBC Coburg basketball team, who play against national opponents throughout their seasons. These matches draw local supporters who gather here to watch their teams compete at the highest levels of their respective sports.
