HUK-Coburg arena

The HUK-Coburg arena is a modern sports hall with spacious dimensions that span 92 meters in length, 67 meters in width, and 14 meters in height, located in the Lauterer Höhe district of Coburg. The facility has been designed to accommodate multiple sporting events within its large covered space.

The city council approved construction of this sports facility in October 2008 after an earlier multipurpose hall proposal had been rejected by voters. This decision led to the development of a dedicated sports building tailored to the needs of local athletic clubs.

The venue hosts regular games for HSC 2000 Coburg handball team and BBC Coburg basketball team, who play against national opponents throughout their seasons. These matches draw local supporters who gather here to watch their teams compete at the highest levels of their respective sports.

The venue is easy to reach via highway A73, federal road B4, or city bus line 2, which has a dedicated stop at the arena. Ample parking spaces are available on the grounds, making it convenient for visitors and athletes to access the facility.

The arena holds approximately 3,530 spectators, with around 2,270 seated and over 1,200 standing places, while the playing surface itself measures 50 by 30 meters (164 by 98 feet). This mix of seating and standing room allows for comfort during matches while accommodating capacity crowds.
