Burg Markt, Medieval castle in Biberbach, Germany

The stone castle stands on a hill with its prominent white tower rising 30 meters high through eight levels above the Bavarian countryside.

Originally built in the 14th century by the Rechberger family, the castle changed ownership to Jakob Fugger in 1508 who transformed it into a palace.

The Catholic castle chapel of St. John the Baptist, constructed between 1738 and 1739, displays architectural elements from the Baroque period.

The western section of the castle complex now functions as an equestrian center, offering visitors opportunities to explore both historical and modern facilities.

During the Thirty Years' War in 1632, Swedish Queen Eleonore spent six months residing within the castle walls while Swedish troops occupied the fortress.
