Liebfrauenheide, Church building in Klein-Krotzenburg, Germany.
Liebfrauenheide is a chapel sitting on a hilltop in Hainburg, built with stone walls and fitted with religious furnishings. The 1868 structure houses devotional objects and religious artworks from different periods.
A chapel was first built in 1736 around a wooden image of Mary that shepherds discovered around 1620 in a hollow oak tree near Dreckshausen. The current building was constructed later, after the original sacred object was moved to another church.
The site has long drawn pilgrims seeking devotion to Mary, creating a space for religious worship and spiritual reflection. Visitors experience a reverent setting shaped by the faith of those who gather here.
Visit on clear days since the hilltop is exposed to weather, and paths can become muddy depending on the season. The chapel is freely accessible to all, but guests should maintain respectful behavior given the religious nature of the place.
The wooden image of Mary that sparked the site's founding is no longer kept here but now resides in St. Nicholas Church elsewhere. This separation shows how pilgrimage places shift and change over time.
